Default Converter questions??

I was looking at the cam only list and the top 3 auto guys have a 5500 stall. I am looking into getting a new converter and have been calling around to different companies and they are telling me not to go any higher than a 4500-4800 max. Why are they telling me this and then some of the fastest cam only guys are running 5500s with almost the same setup that I have? I have been calling the good converter companies too. Just curious.

Well most would consider a 5500 not very streetable which is probably true , I can see where the 5500 would keep the car in its power band all the way from start to finish at the track and make for some great times if you can put it on the pavement , But there would be considerable drivabilty issues at low around town speeds , So really its a matter of what you want the car to do and the trade of of drivability and performance

The car is a track only car and that is what I was telling the companies that I have talked to. I think the power range is like 3500-6700 on the cam I have so that makes sense. I am just curious as to why I am being told otherwise when I call these guys.

I am not sure why they are telling you that but looking at your power range I would suggest 4500 to 5000 for a track only car
