Default Racing with an auto! Questions inside..

Hello how are you guys doing, well I have a few questions about you guys that race with an auto. I have mainly drove a standard my whole life, so I am wondering what parts would be needed, and the best ones, for Drag racing?

Like what line lock do most of you go with? Or do you use them at all?
What stall is prefered to a mid size cam?
And what trans cooler do most of you recommend?

What are the prices for these parts, and were would the best place to go to get them???

I am sorry if some of these questions are on the dumb side, But I would just like to know. What you guys race with.

Thanks in advance

Lane

You can find some discussion about the line locks in the Drag Race forum.

For the stall, I would talk to some of the manufacturers and get there recomendations based on your cam specs, weight, and gear ratio.

On the cooler, I would think that the biggest one you can fit would work the best. Do a search in this forum. You will probably find some specific discussion related to trans coolers.

Hi there, this has all been discussed loads of times try a search and there is loads of info on here already.

Just for your info my stall was the best drag racing mod I've done, I shaved 1/2 a second off my time dropping me straight to 13.36 seconds 1/4 mile.
Trans cooler I already have a factory fitted one, you don't need an extra one for a 3,000 stall.

Next best drag race mod is nitrous dropped me almost another second.

Others go for cam and don't spray there cars but bang for buck you can't beat the feeling of power when the nitrous kicks in!

You only really need a line lock to heat up DR's or slicks street tires don't need too much warming up, just hold the brake a bit and spin a few seconds to get the crap off them.

You also need to ask yourself how much you are willing to sacrifice if this is your daily driver.

Okay thanks guys, I only drive it about 3 to 4 times a week an I am not worried about drivability. So I am wanting to get something radical, I allready have heads(not installed). I am still trying to figure out what cam I want, I allready have most of the supporting mods done ie. boltons.

At one point I want to run DR's. But that will be after a new rear end.

But thanks to everyone, I will look deeper.
