I believe the PY series is designed for nitrous. You can run nitrous through a SS3600, but something about the PY series is supposed to be beefed-up for the extra power. Or it might have a shorter shift extension or lower STR......not completely sure. Someone else chime in and clear this up.

The SS3600 is a converter rated for N/A use at 3600 stall
and the PY 3600 is a power adder stall speed that is also built to handle high torgue for long periods of time with high geared cars (2.73 to 3.42)
the PY 3600 will stall much lower in an NA setup around 3000 to 3200
the housing, clutch, turbine, pump and stator used are a larger size that in the SS model, are all an extra heavy duty design that is only offered by YANK.
Also the SS converter and PY converters have larger clutch 10'' on the SS & 10.8 in the PY with more surface area that any of the builders offer in a single plate model.

what would you reccomend with a bolt on and 125 shot car on dr's, also which one is more efficient, or which would trap higher

The SS3600 is up to the task and might be a tad quicker (.05) than the PY 3600 at that power, but the PY maybe 1 MPH faster in 1/4

Bump the power up and the PY will be better all around

cam will help and let you stay with an SS3600, but the nitrous raised to 175 or 200 shot will requier the PY

Can you run nitrous with the SS4000? I've been told by members that you can, but let's hear what Yank says about it.

Yes, you can run nitrous with the SS series but the Flash RPM will be higher that the PY and might cause traction issues, the converter structure can take nitrous use

couple more questions, you say the the ss4000 will take a 150 shot no problem with the stock limiter, is that the same case if i get that ms4 in the car and then raise the limiter to 6600 or so and shift at 6400?

Do you have the tires and chassis work to handle that?

ss4000 is the same as the ss3600, 675 bones, which the py is 925, im still trying to decide which stall to go with, the 3600 or the 4000, is there such thing as undercamming with a big stall? like the ss4000 and say for example a hotcam. even if it has a stock style power band?

what cam are you making the 414 on? I would say if you only need it to stall big when your on the nitrous the PY is the way to go, it also makes for a good daily driver...
