Default th400 with 3.73 gears

I need to buy a new tranny and am trying to decide if I am going to be happy with a th400. What I would like to know is how bad are they driving on the street without overdrive and for those of you with 3.73 gears what are your rpms driving around town and cruisng at about 65mph on the highway. thanks

26" rear tires 3100 rpm, 28" rear tires 2900 rpm.

Is there a specific calculater that you used to come up with those rpm's or is it from personal experience.
