Locking the converter on the dyno...
Is it worth it?
What would I gain on the dyno? (BTW, on a MMS 388 all-bore motor). How about locking after the 1/8 mile?
1) it skews the rpm/mph factor which generally causes the rpms to be overstated.
2) the converter flash prevents measuring TQ and A/F ratio below about 4500 rpm (even higher on race converters).
Track gains from locking it are likely to be small and not worth the damage, IMO.
