powerglide in an f body???
I think driveability and MPG would be much better on the street with either of those two transmissions.

I used to think the same thing about installing a Glide in a Street/Strip car, until a friend of mine tried it. Now I wholeheartedly recommend the Glide for many S/S cars. My friend had a very clean '84 Z28 that he installed a N2O LT1 engine into. He smoked the 700R4 right away. The only thing that he had sitting around was a Powerglide and 10" N2O converter that was the spare for his EZ Street car. He installed it and drove it (the very next day) from Miami, FL to Atlanta for the NMCA race. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to change his rear gears. He had a 2.73 IIRC. It slow off the line, but ran consistant 12.0s at around 120 mph.
I've done several S/S cars since then with the correct converter and rear gear. The performance is amazing and you still have a 1:1 high gear for cruising. They're very reliable, super light, and best of all, there's only one shift to make.

Lightweight and no street use??????
3540 raceweight here and i drive my car everyday with a Glide.... Rain or shine....
Freeway , what ever.....
I dont even feel it......
Rossler Glide, Neal Chance Converter, Strange S60 w/ 3.54 rear gear, and 325/50 (28") Street tires...
For a BIG HP car esp. a Turbo car the 1.80 1st gear i have is awsome at the track.....
I see the response made above all the time about the extra gear in a TH400... i just laugh
the 2.76 1st gear in a Th400 is hard on the launch for alot of cars.....
I origally wanted a 400 in my car but after talking with carl Rossler a Glide was chosen for many reason's.......
Another reason to build a glide is it can be built to handle the same amount of HP as a 400 for almost 1/2 the price.....
Plus its lighter and takes less HP to use...
If ya really need an O/D unit in a Trans then Just get the Gear Vendor Overdrive Unit and you can have a .70 O/D for about $2k and there rated at 2500HP.
