Default Lighter flywheel in a A4 worth it.

I might have shattered my flywheel and I'm wondering if it's woth the extra money to upgrade it. I have the stock torque converter and gears also.

What year is it?

I've seen 3 '01 Flexplates come apart.. including my own.

I suggest getting an older style ('98 - earier '00) flexplate.

Until they come out with something better then stick with the 98 flex plates.

A lighter high stall converter would be the thing to install. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The 98s and 99s seem not to have flexplate problems.

If there is an aftermarket flex plate out there, I haven't seen one yet. If anyone knows of any, post for us. I'm not too much a fan of "lighter" in general.
Are the ring gears on these replaceable? I know I used to replace them on older cars. I confess I didn't pay much attention to the one on the LS1.

All manuals have flywheels. I didn't know they made lighter flexplates for autos. For a A4 get a smaller converter, it has the same effect as a lighter flywheel for a M6.
