Default 4l60e lockup

Besides better gas mileage and for tuning purposes does it have any other benefits for keeping the lock up function. I personally don't like it and am trying to decide if I want to keep it or not.

Ok, then set it to unlock at 255 MPH and leave the lock up settings stock. Or set the minimum and maximum TCC duty cycles to zero (0).

The last time I had my car tuned I had him set the lock up so it only came on when I was on the highway. I think it was set at 65mph. My normal tranny temp. driving around town without lockup is anywhere between 120 to 150 degrees.

When a torque convertor is locked it is most efficient, reducing heat and power loss.

Why is 120 too cool. Usually when the converter is locked up on the highway it is running at 100 degrees. I thought the cooler the better.

nope, 175 is the perfect temp for a trans. The fluid has detergents and additives that arent active when the fluid is too cold. 100* is very bad.
