Default TH350 Picture question..please look

Started working on a th350 i picked up to rebuild. was going to do a basic clutch replacement and such. but, saw this while tearing it down......am i to assume these holes are from damage and not suppose to be there...i haven't done one before to know if that is damaged area or not.

no, I believe thats how they are cast

those are drain back holes and yes they do look like someone knocked them out with a hammer but its normal
