hell I have an ulitimate converter in my car with a th400, and it flashes to 6000. A 4400 with lockup and overdrive? You can drive that all day long.

My 4400 is a Fuddle and I love it and have yet to experience any problems with it. However, there have been many members on here with some issues with their converters and they had trouble getting them taken care of. Now, he's no longer a sponsor on this site but has shown up on some Corvette forums. I would invest the extra money for peace of mind from Yank.

But yea, go with 4400. You will love it. Get it tuned to lockup at 25mph and it will be a breeze.

I was talking to Dave today from Yank about the converter I should get and he suggested that I go with a ss3600 stall for my car. He said not to go with the pt4000 because it was too much converter for a stock LS1 and 342's he said that converter would work better on a H/C motor with 373's. Then he told me that people on the forum that have the pt4000 have cams and he said that the car is gonna run real slugglish with the 4000 for a DD stock LS1 motor. He said that if I want he can still build the pt4000 for me but that I was gonna be unhappy with the car's perfomance as far as driving it everyday. So I'm stuck I'm not sure which one to get still I'm not planning on putting heads or cam in the no time soon probably early next year or this winter. What should I do?

I have an SS4000 with full exhaust and a lid. Basic bolt-ons. I love it though. It's nice and tight for street driving and pulls real nice. It won't have the pull of the PT series on the highway due to the higher STR, but the PT series won't drive as tight in town either. It's a trade off. You want easy daily driving or crazy top-end?

I find it odd that he told you that the PT4000 wouldn't be ideal for a stock LS1 and 3.42's. Same setup as I'm running, most definitely not sluggish.
There are tons of people on this site that run a pt4k with stock internals, just take a look at the LIST of SI cars. The majority of the top 25 have a yank PTx. Maybe Im missing something here, but I dont think you would be unhappy with that setup.

My son has the yank ss3600 in his 02 Camaro with all the bolt ons ,it is really a great converter, you will love the way it daily drives, and hardly notice the difference over stock, untill you hammer it(BIG DIFFERENCE)!!! He has run 11.72 at 115 at a race weight of 3250.

Due to the higher STR of the SS4000, it WILL drive better and be tighter not to mention launch extremely hard.

However, the PT4000 will be more loose driving around, launch softer than the SS, but pull back the difference in the big end.

I think you'd ET the same with both. One will just 60' better and the other would MPH better.

I DD a PT 4400 and it does not lock up. It took a while to get used to but It pulls like crazy especially with the T-rex.

so I should go with the ss4000 since the ET will probably be the same as a pt4000? Also it's not as loose as a pt4000 driving it in the street right?

I know it should, but for some reason it does not. I have been trying to solve the problem for a while now.

the problem is the 4ljunkie..... those trannies are about as trustworthy as an asian hooker that "supposedly" is clean LOL. 400 rwhp and all bets are off as to how long the tranny will last/work without a problem.
