swap diff unit or just gears? A4
currently have 2.73's with a vig 2800. THere's a speedshop in the area that usually has a steady stream of complete 3.42 diffs out of late model f bods. Should I try to score a whole unit or keep mine and have the gears swapped out.
oops, I'd get the series 2 carrier gears by richmond 3.73's
THoughts either way.
Thanks

I am getting 4.11's installed on the 12th. Dan at AASpeed (www.aaspeed.com) told me that the gear manufacturer he uses (precision gear) had to re-engineer the 3.73's. He also told me the 4.11's are more quite than the 3.73's. I will let you know on Friday. I originally had 2.73's

Supposedly the 3.73’s are the loudest the 3.42’s the quietest. It has to do with the angle the 3.73’ gear is cut at to produce the ratio. That was what I was told from the speed shop I am getting my gear installed from. It sounds right to me.
