Default Which Transmission would be best?

Well... I blew my motor a few weeks ago so I was looking at getting the TSP 383. I currently have a rebuilt 4L60e transmission, but I dont think it will hold very long with a 383. I was looking at the Turbo400 but I want a 4 speed. What would be the best route to go?

Should I just get my tranny rebuilt again to be stronger? Is that possible?

Thats's hard to answer without knowing how much power you'll be making. But if it's 600 rwhp or less then I would look at a performabuilt lvl 3 4L60E. They run $2500 but it's gonna be one stout tranny that also comes with a one year warranty.

If it's big power like 700+ then I would definately go with a built 4L80E.

Performabuilt and FLT are the two most popular Transmission sponsors here and either can build you a tough 4L60E. Just don't take it to Joe @ AAMCO or a mom and pops tranny shop. They will not know what they are doing.

I have a manual VB 4l60 non-electric stage 3 from Suck-on. It has held up to my 347 w/ 275 shot like a champ. No transbrake or anything.

Only problem with the 4L80's is they are power eaters. If you are making retarded power, then it should be in order however.

4l80s are extremely heavy too. You can always buy a good aftermarket 4l60, but if you have a good trans person in your area, you could probably save a bit of money. The 4l60s are easily upgraded to withstand a bit of power for a very reasonable price.

I've been doing it for years. I'm not the cheapest around, but by far cheaper than anyone I've seen advertised. I wouldn't suggest taking it to anyone who doesn't have experience in beefing them up though.

And I wouldn't roll those loaded dice. If 1 out of 100 really know what they are doing then I sure don't like those odds. Besides the sponsors here give us this great website for free. Lets support them when we can.

At least that's how I feel about it.
