turbo 400 problem
turbo 400 problem My tranny is taking for ever for it to go into reverse or any other gear. It's taking like 15 minutes of sitting there letting it idle before it will finally go into a gear. Once it finally starts shifting it works fine. I changed the fluid and filter to see if thats it but it almost seems worse now. And yes it has pleanty of fluid. I have no idea how a turbo 400 works or any other tranny for that matter, so any explanation would help.
It sounds as if you are having a converter drain back problem. Check the oil level before you even start it and see how far up the dipstick it reads. Then fire it up in park and see how long it takes to go down to the full mark. What I believe might be happening it that your tc oil is draining back into the oil pan. This could be caused by a worn out pump, loose bushing, and so on. Do you have a trans break on this transmission? If you do, you should be using a filter with a brass or metal screen in the filter. The paper style filter should never be used in this application. Good luck, Vince.
No it doesnt have a trans break but when I changed the filter the old one didnt have the paper insert in the filter, it didnt have anything. The new filter does have the paper filter in it. So is what your saying the tranny is just basically going to probably break somtime in the near future?
