some tranny questions
some tranny questions alright heres stats.....
not installed yet---TR 224/224 .560 lift 112 lsa cam....3.73 gears..
going to be installed wed. new tranny....
the tranny is being built by a friend of mine who runs a tranny shop...included in the tranny is, aftermarket clutchs, servos, beast shell, trans go kit and a few other things...warrantied for $1500 installed
however he will not put any stall larger then 2300 in without putting other parts in ie steel planetaries etc....because he wont warranty without those....however this would a good bit more for the parts...
question is...do i HAVE to HAVE a large aftermarket stall with such a small cam and gears?...
and would i be playing with fire if i installed later a 2800-3000 stall without changing the planetaries and other parts?....

well if he's a friends of yours, he's surely not giving you a good deal at all. yeah you can gamble with putting a 3000 converter it it, but if he's saying only 2300 i'd go somewhere's else. there are many people running 3k stalls on stock trannys out there.
i just bought my performabuilt level 2 tranny last week. it's able to handle 700rwhp, 1 year warranty, no core, free 25k gvw cooler, and free shipping. all that for $1550. might want to look into them.
