Default 2nd accumulator question

Im in the middle of intalling a trans-go shift kit. i bought one for a 97 (thinking it didnt matter what year 4l60e). I have it apart and noticed the 2nd accumulator is set up very different than what is pictured in the instructions and on line. mine's a 2002 and just has the piston, and two springs "under" the piston. not one on the out side and one on the inside of the body. anyone come across this and find somthing else to replace it w/?

thanks,
corey

Personally even when I use the Transgo kit I like to leave the accumulators in the stock form and use the larger diameter holes in the plate where it gives choices, This will still give you plenty of shift and yet retain more low throttle drivability ,

now that im looking around, im finding updated pistons (mine are plastic). i might as well hold off and get those updates but im still confused. even other 2002 4l60e 2nd accumulator bodys are set up diff it seems. they have a piston w/ a spring on the top of the piston and under it in the body. if i go w/ the updated piston will i be changing to that set up. right now its a plastic piston w/ two springs under it. btw thanks for getting back to me.

Even with the updated pistons I would leave it in the stock configuration ,

I've switched from the stock set up to what the transgo kit says and it worked fine.
If Performabuilt says to stay with the stock set up I guess it works fine both ways.

First, what torque converter are you going to use here? With a 10" or smaller TC, go with the TransGo setup, but do not add any spacers, you will like the feel of the shifts better (smooth part throttle, firm full throttle). I add the aluminum pistons to replace all of the plastic pistons in my later modified Shift kits.

its going to be the stock converter. im realy not all that concerned w/ modifying the accum as much as i am about getting rid of the plastic parts. from what i can tell im going to have to change how its set up though and use the trans-go springs to use the updated piston. i cant figure out why my 2nd accum is set up like this and others arent.

Others are. The transgo kit just has you put the springs on the other side of it.
