No, they will perform very differently.

The ST 4000 will have a better bottom end punch and should 60' better. It is a drag strip converter

The YTP 4000 will is more balanced. It will produce a good 60 but has much better shift extension and efficency. It will pull harder from a roll then the ST 4000 and makes an excellent highway racer.

so could i make up for the slower 60' with gears? im putting in a 4l70 and im trying to figure out what gears and convertor to run. im pretty set on running a 4000 stall, just which one. it will be in a daily driver, and the mods are in sig. the ytp 4000 sounds like the better convertor. if Patrick G. reads this, how do you like the convertor you have now (the ytp 4000 right?)?

I the eighth mile the ST4000 would beat the YPT4000, but in the 1/4 mile they would be even. The Super Thruster 4000 hits the tires harder, but does not pull as hard from a roll as the Pro Thruster 4000 (nothing does). For traction limited situations, the Pro Thruster is even better.

For every day street manners, the Super Thruster is better, but the pull from a roll is unfreaking believeable with this Pro Thruster 4000.

What 60ft times could you expect from these two converters on a bolt-on car (as in the sig) with traction?

Thanks
John

You can use gears to compensate up to the point that you have to shift to 4th before you cross the line.

Of course, gears could potentially help either converter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
