Default converter install on a 70e leaking fluid??

has anyone ever installed a new Converter (in this case a 10.5" VIG) and drove for a day then started pissing trans fluid out of the front seal? took it out and the seal, bushing, hub everything looks fine? one thing I noticed was it was very tight going on, and on start up it was knocking like a loose bolt, but there was none, it went away as I topped it off (coincidence in timing?). when it was on the shaft I spun it by hand and it seems to be "ratcheting", not smooth when it turns around, put the stocker back on and it turns smoothly... any ideas? Vigilante thinks I'm insane, I am almost tempted to put the stock one back in drive it to prove it's this damn converter!! but don't want to waist another few hours until I exhaust all possibilities while it's out..

vehicle is a 2007 TrailblazerSS 2WD with a couple thousand on it..

vehicle was not beat on after the install and only driven about 50miles or so, hwy at that..

Tony I had a front pump go out that did the same thing after a convertor install in a Caprice I had. It was something I am sure I did wrong.
