Default What OD tranny to use?

Guys, I'm wanting to go auto. But I'm so scared of a 4L60e that I hate to buy one. With the mods in my sig + 150 shot, what auto would you go with?

Note: I drive a lot. I need overdrive. And want to do this for a reasonable price, so unless you have a $500 Gear Vendors unit, it's not a consideration.

if ur not wanting to do the th350 with gear vendors unit then for a properly built 4l80e ive seen them around 2k most places... so if money is an issue ur prolly gonna be stuck doing a 4l60e.. but honestly i think it depends more on ur 60ft then anything, if its built right it will handle the power, i found it breaks when you hook that power... and ive rebuilt this one about 3x lol..

on the street 150 shot i never had a problem though i had aftermarket clutces ect.. but even without spraying it went in 1 day at the track hooking, then i replaced the part that broke with a stronger one and replaced the clutches again and it lasted 8 passes the second time before it broke that same stronger more expensive part again lol

Looking at the ratings, and after Performabuilt has posted a couple of things, I don't think the 2004r is gonna hold. And I've been threatened by 3 friends that if I put ANY 4L60e in my car, they'll kick me in the nuts. LOL! Seriously, those things are useless around here for some reason. Very very few hold up on LS1 cars. Yes, even expensive built ones. I'm looking more toward a 4L80e.

You didn't mention your budget. Anyway, give Chuck a call at FLT (Finish Line Transmissions) and talk to him about where you're going with the car. They have different level-builds of the 4L60E and 4L80E.

which one did you finally go with? how much did it end up costing? and how hard was it to install and get it fully operational and running with no electronic problems as far as tuning/wiring goes? that info would help
