Question Tranny stuck in 2nd

I was driving aroud today and out of nowhere my 4l60E is stuck in 2nd. I had no problems with it until the second it got stuck. Anyone know what it might be? I was making a little click on metal sound when put into drive. Reverse is smooth. Advise and opinions welcome. Even on a better tranny, and better ways of rebuilding.

Actually if it feels like its starting in second its actually starting in thrid and is in limp mode and if this happens then minute you start car would be and indication of and electrical fault , Check for codes first

Thanks. I let it set a mintue. When i went to try it again it started shifting like normal again. I think that is what it might have been.

I haven't put in a converter. But i did put a 76 miles on it last night it ran fine all morning. I got in it this morning to move it while cutting the grass and it started doing it again. I'm think you were right performabuilt saying that it might be an electrical problem. I'm taking it in tommorrow to get it checked out. thanks

Well i'm taking it in tommorrow. I talked to the last owner and he said he had the same problem with another T/A that he had. I also found out through mutual friends that he treated his cars very poorly. So i'm thinking that he did somthing to it before i got it. I looked at what you guys offer. I like the invisible one but i'm just going to go to about 475-500 rwhp. Which one would be good for this?
