Default Changing 2-3 Shift Solenoid

Does anyone have any detailed instructions regarding changing the 2-3 shift solenoid.

I am in Iraq and my wife has the GTO getting some issues with the stall converter (going into limp mode due to the 2-3 shift solenoid even though it does have 3rd gear).

I want to send her some detailed instructions to hand off to the automotice shop on base so they can drain the fluid, change filter, and change solenoids.

Thanks.

I am also looking for a place online to buy the solenoids.

In the back of the valve body, 2 identical solenoids, replace them both. They are side by side.

Now if the car is shifting to third and your geting that code due to the stall , I dont know if replacing the solenoids is the best course of action .Have you had the car tuned for that stall ?

I installed solonoids 3 times before I had the trans codes deleted from the program.

Yes thats happens often we have customers call with our new tranny and converter thinking they have a bad solenoid when they just need a tuning change, Its odd though some cars will throw the code and others will not with the same converter. 3000 up stall and you never know maybe it will maybe it wont

They are very easy to replace , No more difficult than changing the filter, but again I think you may actually have a tuning issue not a solenoid issue

tunning issue? hmmm The car has run prefect up till three days ago... how would a tuning issue be the problem? I have the shift points set at 6300 in all gears and the rev limiter set to 6650. shift timing is perfect as far as i could tell previous.

What is the fluid condition? I am going to suspect that there is an internal issue, possibly a burnt 3/4 clutch pack. Is the MIL lamp coming on?

The P0756 code is defined as "Shift solenoid B - Performance or stuck off".

If the pan is off it won't hurt a thing to replace the two shift solenoids. It could easily be related to the high stall converter as well... but not likely IMHO.

But, based on the fluid condition and the symptoms I am going to stick with my comments about the 3/4 clutches being burnt.

If you would like to discuss it further don't hesitate to give me a call. I'll be in all day today.

If you have been tuned for the converter, Likley you are starting to have and issue with the stock trans, Since you allready have our converter, Why not take advanatage of our present sale and make a matched set.
