PI 2800!
I run a 2.73 /2800 combo.
Sounds crazy but it works very very well with poweradder.

A larger diameter converter works better with car that have less gear...especially if you're considering a power adder. Most of the good street strip converters by Precision, TCI and Yank are 9.5" converters. What I'm recommending is something more along the lines of a 10" converter like the Pro Yank 3600 (or the Pro Yank 3400 if you want a really tight feeling converter). These work awesome with power adders and no gear.

Would the Pro Yank 3600 be too much for stock tires? I don't plan on gettin DR's. I don't wanna break the rear.

Any converter will overwhelm street tires. The PYE 3600 won't be too bad. Drag radials will help a lot; even if you run them cold at 26lbs they will give up well before you break anything yet hook much better than the stock GSCs.

It is not even close. It scares me to think what a higher stall converter would do to them. But then, they are getting hit with a lot of torque from the extra cubes.

Default Converter for Nitrous

Hello everyone, I'm new to this board. I'm lookin to buy a 98 TA and of course i'm allready plannin the mods. My plans are exhaust, headers, intake, and nitrous. It's an automatic with 2.73 gears. I was hoping you could give me some advice on which converter would be best for this set up. I plan on running on regular street tires, no DR's for me. Also, I plan on goin with the Venom system, so i plan on using the linear mode to maintain traction. Does this sound reasonable? And could anyone guesstimate what times i can expect?

I would highly recommend putting some DRs in back if you're gonna get a higher stall and use nitrous. You could run a mild converter on street tires by easing into the throttle but why? I have a pretty mild converter by todays standards and street tires give me no traction off the line. Add a shot of the giggly to that and you're gonna spin em all day. I say if you're gonna do it, do it right. DRs w/273 in back is a safe combo. I've had many aggressive launches on the street over the past 2 years and the rear end is fine.

I'll cover shipping just to be a nice guy.

topless: I like my 3.73s although street launches were easier with 3.23s. F-body gear swaps frequently develop whine as the miles build up if you flog your car much. Blue is right that 2.73s are pretty strong. A PYE 3400/3600 or Vig 2800 or TCS 3000 converter would be pretty drivable and work awesome on the spray. Some raised part throttle shift points with Edit and the man will have a very drivable good performing ride.
