I have a TCI 3500 with a 2.5 STR. My buddy has a TCI 3000 with a 2.2 STR. We both have full exhaust, lid and ported TB. After driving each others car at the track and on the street we both agreed that my stall is 10 X better. I get low 1.7 60's and he gets low 1.9's. Driveability feels about the same on both cars as well. He now wishes he had gotten the bigger stall. Truth be told I kind of wish I had gone with a 4000 stall.

As for the transmission and a 3500 stall I can tell you that with a B & M 24K tranny cooler and a little PCM tuning it runs like a champ. It's been 2 years that the stall has been in with no issues. This includes 200+ 1/4 mile track passes and probably 5-8K street miles. Converter is still running great as is my 4L60E (stocker with 75K miles).

I say get a stall in the 3500-3800 range. They offer good compromise of driving manners and performance both at the track and on the street.

im running for a performabuilt custom built 9.5 inch 3k stall with a transgo HD-2 shift kit, and pcm tune to up the line pressure. I havent even got the car together yet but from all the research ive done im fairly certain my engine/tranny combo will be a beast for what it is
