Can I mount a temp sensor
In the transmission line pressure tap plug?
I found two links for Grand Prix/Am by googling <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I don`t think our rear wheel drive tranies have a pressure test point. You can use a B&M drain kit install it in the tranny pan and instead of the plug install your sender for your gauge. That`s what I `ve done, works great. You can also do a T in the lines to the trans cooler.
Correct me if I am off track Superman, but using the trans cooler line, you would definately want to tap into the pressure side, not the return side right? Also, Would this be accurate enough seeing that it is not that far from the trans itself I would think it would be a good measure of the trans temp. I just installed a cooler for insurance against my trans and converter so that sounds better than having to drop the pan, drill two holes and reinstall, one for the drain kit and the temp sender. opinions welcome TIA.

I think the most accurate temps would be taken in the pan.. only one hole is needed for the drain kit (the sender fits instead of the plug) It`s messy I know but I don`t know how accurate the inline cooler temp would be.. they`d show hot going into the coolers and cooler coming back.
KNow what I mean?

Yes, 4L60E's have a line pressure tap. There is no reason not to have one. Makes it a little hard to diagnose line pressure problems. I would see no problem with mounting a temp. sensor in the coolant line. You've got two choices of where to put it if you went this route. I'd put it in the line going to the cooler from the convertor, since this is the most hot fluid in the tranny.
