Default TCI Troubles

Recently upgraded cam and heads on my 02 SS, which proceeded to fry my TCI SSF 3500 Stall Converter (p/n 242932).... I already have a TCI SFI Flexplate (p/n 399753)

I complained to TCI that the SSF which had about 10k miles and was about 14 months old should have given me better service, and much to my delight, TCI offered to send me a new converter, this time a 4000 stall, billet converter with upgraded internals to handle my hp outout (420 rwhp)... and they sent me this converter for $250 plus my old converter as a core return. I thought this was a terrific deal and was quite impressed with TCI backing up there product......

The new converter arrived, was labled SSF LS1 Billet p/n 242953. Took it down to my chosen Tranny shop, and 3 hours later the phone rings..... your new TCI converters holes dont match those in my TCI flexplate.... we think they sent you a converter for an LS1 C5 corvette and they are not interchangeble with an F-Body LS1.... now no one was available on a saturday at TCI to ask a question.... and I am not certain what the degree of mis-match there are in the holes.....

To add to the grief... no where on the TCI site and nowhere online have I been able to find the 242953 converter spec'd out... although it is so labled on the invoice, on the TCI box and stamped into the converter cover....

Anyone shed any light on this converter? I assume upon talking to TCI on monday I am going to be returning the new converter as I dont anticipate them saying go ahead and use it, match drill new holes to suit....

I had to open up one of the holes on my flexplate just a touch using a dremel....there was a slight mis-match and one of the bolts wouldn't start....been fine since....don't know any info on the converter they sent you but it sounds very similar to the one I have...mines a 3500 billet front single disc converter....

edit: just went and search around a bit and found several close but not the same PN#

I did not get to see the degree of mis-match as the saturday working mechanics went home after the converter would not bolt-up. I am fairly sure it is a vette converter, as during the course of searching in vain for the part number I found noted several times that a vette LS1/4L60E converter would not fit a camaro.... I would have to think the hub/splines would both marry up and the mis-match is the flexplate bolt alignment... It would be nice if it was just a matter of reaming out one hole,,,, I dont feel like waiting a week plus to swap converters with TCI
