Default SY3500 Unlocking and Hard Shifts

Yesterday I took the Z on a 4hr drive to St. Louis, one that I've done many times with the convertor in (almost 2yrs). After 3hrs, I felt the car slightly jerk, which was the vertor unlocking. I slowed down to 60mph (from 80mph)and put it in D from OD to see if that would help, but the car jerked again and still didn't lock up for the last 1hr of the drive. When I pulled off the highway, it was shifting VERY hard. I then stopped, turned off the car, restarted it and everything seemed to go back to normal.

The weather was about 50degrees, lots of stop and go traffic, and very heavy rain most of the way (it's my daily driver too). I'll check the fluid to see if it's low.

Any info on what happened would be helpful.

Thanks.

In an attempt to save your clutches, your pcm ordered the tranny into limp mode because the TCC slip speed exceeded allowable limits. Generally you can just turn your car off for a few minutes and it will reset, everything will be just fine. This happened to me to when driving on a long vacation on some moderately hilly terrain, with the 2.73 gears it just put me over the edge of what is acceptable, probably should have been in 3 instead of OD, but anyway, it's really a whole lot of nothing. It'll scare the pi$$ out of you though!

Ok thanks. Hopefully this won't start happening more often.
