It was the throttle positioning sensor. Thanx guys for all the input.

Well I have a 97 Grand Prix GTP thats shifting funny. It's not slipping or shifting hard, but it takes the rpms all the way up to 4k in every gear before she shifts. I thought it might be a trans modulator or the vaccum line on the modulator but people kept telling me that it didn't have one. I researched it a little and found out that the 97's did have one but 98 and up did not. My buddy has a repair shop so I went up there to look on his computer to see where the modulator is located. He said he has a guy that "specializes" in transmissions and to just drop it off to him and he would look at it for me. The trans "expert" calls me back and said the trans is fried because of the remote start thats on the car and began to attempt to explain to me how a remote start can fry a trans and said it happens all the time. He didn't convince me that this is what happened to the car. I've never heard of that happening nor can I even see how this could cause this. I've checked the fluid and its good. It just happened overnight, no warning and everyone I talk to that have at least some knowledge of cars haven't heard of this either.
Has this car always done it? Every GTP i've ever driven tends to hold a gear forever compared to most cars. But those 97 cars were known for chewing up 4t60s, the 4t65s that came in 98+ could take more abuse.

Nope never done it before. The trans guys said I lost 3rd and 4th gear. I took the car on the expressway last night and every gear did the same thing. 1st shifted at 4k, 2nd at 4k, 3rd at 4k, and 4th at 4k. The guy just assumed I lost 3rd and 4th cause he probably wasn't going fast enough to get it to shift into 3rd and 4th.
The modulator only controls line presure on that unit not shift points, You need to take the car to someone with a good scanner and watch the data stream to see what shift is being comanded, There are several issues that can cause late upshifts, That are PCM Sensor related.
