Question Thinking about doing a stall....

I am wondering about stalls and what I should go with. I have pretty much made up my mind on a Yank SS3600, what is your opinion?

Also, if I go with that stall what trans cooler should I go with? I have heard that a B&M Supercooler for 16k GVW should work great....opinions?

And, should I go with a shift kit to help make the shifts more firm? If so, is the Transgo hd2 shift kit the way to go?

Are there any other things I should consider getting when I do the swap?

Thanks again,

James

i just put a yank ss3600 in my 02 bolt on z28. from what ive read, i wouldnt go under a 24k cooler, just to be safe. mine i think around 28k. the higher stall like we have will make shifts feel a little soft and sloppy, so a shift kit is not a bad idea. im still takin it easy for a couple hundred miles, but i cant wait to get on her. the yank ss3600 seems to be one of the most popular converters for our cars. good luck man

I also have a Yank SS3600, and agree with Raise as well, 24k cooler min. Shift kit wouldn't hurt. Also look into getting a deeper trans pan as well.

Stall, cooler, shift kit. Then, suspension mods will be needed next!

So I am guessing you like your setup?

How does it drive on the street, from 0-40?

just some food for thought - i saw your location... you can buy a Precision Industries Vigilante converter from Speedinc out of schaumburg, il ...and you would see it in 1-2 days.

Yank and Vigilante are the best two brands out there, but Yank doesn't deal with shops anymore, and i heard they were backed up a couple weeks from a local guy.

www.ls1speed.com - they'll set you up with the right converter for your application. you can also order transgo shift kits from them and get them all in the same order.

I have checked out other converters, and I think I am sold on the SS3600. What deep pan do you guys recommend? Or are they pretty much the same?

The deeper pans are pretty much the same, look for aluminum ones, I have a TCI one, B&M also has one, and I'm sure theres others.
