Default is my flywheel(flexplate) warped?

a guy at a shop said that the pump in my transmission might have broke because the flywheel might be warped

i had someone crank it over and i watched the flywheel as it turned. it barely wobbles, just a tiny tiny tiny bit

do i need a new flywheel?

also, this flywheel is brand new, came off of my brothers ls2 crate engine

It shouldnt wobble at all and the wobble can be amplified with power applied. While I havent really seen it break a pump I have seen it cause a seal or a front bushing to walk out of the pump repeatedly

What exactly broke in the pump? About the only time you ever see pump gears break, is when something lodges in the gears and stops them from turning. As he said, usually a warped flexplate will chew up the pump bushing and will leak.

I would find the problem before you put it all back together. That isn't going to fix it.

I'm having the same problem, and asTXJeepTJ said, my flexplate is barely wobbling. Unfortunately, this is now the second pump assembly that I am on, and I don't want there to be a third. I'm replacing my flexplate as well

I had a nice TCI flexplate that was warped bad and lucily I could hear it while cranking the new engine. It sounded like the crank was scraping ON the crankscraper so we pulled the pan...looked good, then we spun the flexplate and it was visibly warped. Swapped to a JW Wheel and all was well... Cheapest part of the driveline I think...get a good one!
