HELP! tranny wont shift out of first (4L60e)

HELP! tranny wont shift out of first (4L60e) 1998 t/a 4l60e. vig 3200, trans-go shift kit. the problem is intermitant has happened twice. when the car is hot and i turn it off for approx 5 min and then restart and take off the tranny wont shift out of first for a couple seconds. after that it shifts fine. anyone have any clues? i have the b&m trans cooler, the fluid looks and smells good, and it was just changed in feburary ( approx 4000mi ago). any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: HELP! tranny wont shift out of first (4L60e) more than likely the reason it does this is the pcm thinks your solinoids are stuck and thus disables shifting into upper gears. Reason it thinks this sometimes is if your rpms remain high and your tranny temps are hot then it tests a false positive, throws a code, and disables. You have to turn off the car and restart for your gears to come back. It happened to me and I couldn't get 4th gear. Sucked expecially going down a highway. I got a new tranny in and it did it again, I had it so I went into ls1edit and took that test and code out. No more problems.

Re: HELP! tranny wont shift out of first (4L60e) alright that sounds good except i dont have any codes. it was acting up the other day when it was hot but not recently since the weather cooled of. what test is it exactly so i know what to look for and do i need a bigger tranny cooler? it gets pretty friggin hot in new orleans.
