I recently had mine built to Lvl 5 specs. close as I could anyway. I couldn't afford to get an FLT product right now but Vince has always been upfront with everyone on the site. I'm sure his local customers would say the same too. If you got the money, I wouldn't give it a second thought just call him up. His shop will dyno the unit before it even goes in your car! How many others can do that? And a 2 yr warranty says alot about standing behind your product/ workmanship. Sure bad things can happen to anyone, just look at all the recalls and bulletins put out by car mfgrs. every year. Ask your question on PTnet and I already know what the answer will be. FLT---For The Win. Like I said, I didn't buy from them but there a lots of guys running Lvl 4/5's behind a 325/370/402/408 etc.. 4-5k truck and mowing down rustangs and mopars like gravy. And if there ever was a problem FLT fixed it and those guys are always asked for help/ advise. If you are going to "buy" a transmission, Vince is the guy you want to talk to.

... so far so good and I hope mine holds up as well as the last few who have posted. She's going to start seeing some heavy track time, so if it holds up, then, I'll report back good things here. I'm hoping it serves me well ... don't wanna' send it back again. I do have to say I have a little more confidence after seeing these posts.

over 450rwhp and almost 550rwtq in a 4500lb truck here.... the only thing I've had an issue with was a converter that took out my front pump. Sent it back, had it fixed, put it back in with a brand new Yank SS3600 and I've never looked back. I did up a set of custom trans cooler hoses to keep Chuck and Vince happy with her temps and its never missed a beat ![The Judge](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_judge.gif)
Did another round of tuning yesterday and it keeps getting better and better...

The 4l60 will last it isn't as weak as they say. Everyone that had the right setup for their car and still blew it up I guarantee that they overheated it. Hotlaping a 4l60 will kill it in no time. The key is to keep it cool. I smoked a leval 5 in 1200 miles because it constantly ran over 220. Now I have a new one with a monster cooler; runs at 180, and has so far taken 4 times the abuse of the other one. No issues at all. BUt it IS contingent on it being built right.
I strongly recommend having a temp gauge on it. That is your best bet if you wanna make the trans last.

Need more help? This is the same trans that I bought used from my friend who bracket raced with the trans and put countless runs in two seasons. I sent it back to FLT for a "freshen up" over a year ago and haven't looked back since.
Still undecided? Chuck and Vince are great to deal with and will tell you like it is.
They're not cheap but worth every penny.

Im running a dr evil stage 3 trans only because it was part of a trade for my t-56. Vince and Chuck have even helped me out with issues with this trans. Top quality service imo. When this goes theres no doubt im goin with FLT. I the Chicago land area there rep is top notch. A very good friend of mine (RPM WS6) swears by them after installing an flt trans in his ws6, we are talking about a very **** guy when it comes to quality work. Hope you go with them in the future.

FLT for sure, i am running their stage 4 and i have had no problems at all with their trans, and their customer service is next to none. I had some install issues, before i even started the car, drove down to FLT Vince fixed it on the spot and even bs with my buddy and I while he fixed it, and even showed us the trans dyno. Both Chuck and Vince are great guys and i wouldn't go with anyone else's trans

I agree with all the comments about FLT!
Vince and I have been talking for some time. I know that he and Chuck are good people, they do their best every day. They are both a credit to the industry.
It is not uncommon at all for an automatic transmission to have to be freshened up after a season of hard service... especially after a few years of service on the street even in a highly modified cruiser.
Not to belabor the subject, but heat in an automatic transmission is brutal on the seals and other soft parts. Anytime a car sees any track duty whatsoever it is best to have an auxillary cooler on it. When a car has a higher than stock converter installed it needs an auxillary cooler.
Good Luck with your decision!
