Not sure if Speeds is vacuum modulated but I love that part on the FLP. Shifts nice just driving around but at WOT shifts HARD!.
I~ve been very happy with the FLP stage IV.

Speed Inc's IS modulated and both trannies are great. I have owned both. I broke one of FLP's trannies and they couldn't figure out why. I also broke a Speed Inc one because of a bad batch of parts. I like the speed inc one more because in addition to taking care of you if something happens, they are much nicer and stand behind their product. FLP tried to get me to pay even though no explanation of why it broke was said. You cant even tell that the Speed Inc tranny is in your car, thats another thing I like. The FLP has a LOT of line pressure and shifts real hard without doing anything which I don't like. Some people attribute that pressure as being excessive and causes the FLP tranny to break. Don't know how much truth there is to that.

Mine is absolutely tame on the street until you get on it and then line pressure is set according to Manifold Vacuum.
FLP trannies have an excellent proven track record and have never had a "bad batch of design".. err, I mean "parts".

Have you? The FLP tranny shifted hard as hell no matter what you did, weather it be regular driving or going from reverse to drive or getting on the car. The speed inc trans is not even noticeable in the car which is something I prefer. If you dont believe me, I could care less. Go drive a car that has each and you will see. Also, just because both trannies are vacuum operated doesnt mean that they both have the same shift firmness. Maybe the difference of shifting is caused by the shift kit they use.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
I wonder if anyone else has a 4L60E that has been on the dyno up to 700HP. We have a beefier one going in that hopfully will hold up after we tune the car!

stage 3 + one special addition <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
its all in testing right now... so instead of doing a billet roller 200r4 we might be able to have a 800+HP LS1 with a 4L60E

I am looking at getting a cam, converter, and 3.73s installed along with programming from Speed Inc. They have been extremely helpful in helping in my decision and I have heard nothing but good things about their products and their service.

Most of the higher HP applications I have seen just do not use the 4L60E which was the reason for my initial comment.

Tom Izzo rules. He stands behind all of his products. His products are just like his customer service "Top Notch". If I don't go with a TH400 I will definitely be getting a Speed Inc. 4L60e tranny.
