Default tranny shudder

i just dynoed my car and on the last run, i felt my tranny shudder a lil an kinda fall on its face in 3rd and 4th...when i was driving home felt the same crusing at around 55-60mph left like a pulsating feeling from the tranny then the converter would lock and i felt like it would downshift, be ok for a while then the same thing..my car is a 99z, 4l60e 4k performabuilt converter, with cooler..any ideas?? tranny taking a dump or converter?

Are you sure it isnt actullly shuddering in lockup due to and engine missfire and then once The PCM detects it , It then takes it out of lockup which would make it feel like the shudder went away and it downshifted , Just and idea ?

i am throwing misfire codes but this is the first time its done this, but then on highway driving it pulses pretty bad, never had any other problems wiht my tranny, but recently while crusing around 50-55 it would lock and unlock on its own, dont know if it is the convertor but thats all i can assume

The converter can only do what its told the clutch is nothing more than that a clutch. like any clutch in the trans it can do one of two things it can apply and hold or it can slip a converter slip will result in a code PO1870 a converter cannot unlock on its own , It will be comanded to unlock for engine missfire codes when they reach a certain level and when it is locked with these missfires occuring it will feel like a very definate shudder.
I will bet money you eliminate the misfire you end your problem

thanks for you help i'll check deeper in to that misfire to see what happens and hopefully it will cure it..once again thanks for the help
