Default Rebuilt - Transmission Fluid Spraying Everywhere

Ok guys, So i just got the 700r4 rebuiilt. Its under warranty and a reputable transmission specialist. I told him if possible to keep my aftermarket converter if it was not messed up. So I get the car back, and it works pretty good. BUT... when i W.O.T transmission fluid SPRAYS out everywhere on the passanger side. Mostly gets all over the headers which causes smoking which scares me. I called the guy and he thinks its my converter. But I was thinking why would my converter be doing this now, and not before the rebuild. Any ideas?

Where is is leaking from? A cooler line, seal, or maybe the vent line. I would find that out first.

If the builder used the wrong pump gasket this could be the problem. The late gasket is what I use on the later rebuilds and it has a section gasket material that is not found on the early gasket. I believe this was added to keep oil from blowing out of the pump and shooting directly at the vent in the case. There are two different pumps that GM used that require one gasket or the other however if I remember correctly the late gasket can be used with both pumps. Other causes would be if the line pressure had a major leak that was blowing out from a gasket, valve body plug, pump half and so on, causing excessive transmission case pressure. When this happens the vent is there to keep from blowing a seal out of the trans. I would check what was posted by the other members first. If that all looks good it looks like you will be pulling the trans again to get it corrected. Vince

I would doubt it is the converter, I have seen mysterious converter leaks before, but they will appear after the converter gets hot and a crack can open up. If it was the converter the bell housing would contain it and it would just drip down, I don't think it could even get to the exhaust, even with the dust shield removed. I would lean towards cooler line, vent, or something like that.
