4L60E - Will not go into park/reverse

4L60E - Will not go into park/reverse Ugh...so this just happened today, seemed to just 'happen' out of nowhere with no warning or signs it was going to happen.
Sometimes the car will not go into park, about 1 out of 5 times it will. The car will not go into reverse unless i first go past it into park, then back down into reverse. Neutral, and all the drive gears seem to work perfectly. Before when i would shift into any gear it would feel firm, and i could always tell when it was in the right gear. Now it feels very sketchy/loose kind of, and the shifter doesn't feel 'positively' in anything above N. Like i said, this came out of nowhere, i do not abuse my car, nor do i drive it hard....this is freaking me out, i really do not want to have to replace the tranny or have a major overhaul. Do you guys have any theories?

It sounds like you are having a cable issue as mentioned above. I would start at the linkage nut on the trans and follow it up to the shifter. There is also a bracket that the cable mounts to on the trans that could be loose. I highly doubt that this is a trans problem. Vince
