Default 4L80E question(s)

Has anyone ever put at 80E into an f-body that was 1997 (camaro). I am wanting to replace my t-56, and put something stronger in that can handle some power, and also- where is the cheapest I can find an 80E that is a good place?

I found a few 4l80e's at local junkyards today on the phone. It seems the average price is $500 pulled out and ready to go.

I was looking at one locally for $500, with very low miles. I am thinking a Full Manual Transgo and Fuddle/Yank/PI converter. I wonder how much that would hold

Its best to walk thru the junk yard and ask "how much is that transmission over there".
Because most people (at junk yards) dont know the difference between a 700r4, 4l60,or a 4l80. When you say " how much is that 4l80"...it adds $500 to their price.

Is that to say $500 for a good working one is too much? I'm too sure what they go for but I hope to learn what a stock one with a few small mods will hold.

Go advice on what to do at junk yards.
