I doubt the tranny shop did anything but I have seen this happen several times with flushing the trans particularly if its high milage. If it already smells burt the damage is likley already done.

There is just not much the shop that did the service could have done to create the symptoms.

On higher mileage vehicles that have not had continuous service we recommend that the transmission service not be done if the unit is not symptomatic... this is vehicles over 100k miles that have had only one tranny service for example. I know yours has 77k, but if those have been hard miles than it will be no different. There would have to be a judgement call by myself and my staff of technicians. And then we would consult with the owner of the vehicle.

The whole idea here is that the fluid in higher mileage trannies will have very fine clutch debris suspended that actually aides in the application of clutches. Also the fluid has broken down and some of the conditioners and lubricants have deteriorated. When the fresh fluid is installed it can indeed create symptoms such as you are experiencing.

The only fault I see, and it is a judgement call every time mind you, is that the shop that serviced your unit did not warn you beforehand.

Communications is the key.

Good Luck.

ok thanx for the info. i droped it at a different shop today, he drove the car and he said the car is not slipping first to second, it is actually skipping 2nd gear and goin straight to 3rd. he said it is most likley the band. he is opening it up tomarrow and will know 100%. also he said the tranny fluid is not burnt. the other shop lied about everything to cover their a$$.

ok found the problem. tranny needed rebuilt. 3rd gear clutches are blue and purple, band is shot, pump needs rebuilt, and a couple other things as well.

Well glad you found the issue, AndI wish you luck on the build. 77000 can be low milage on a tans or high milage depending on how it was driven.
