Paddle shifting 4L60E and 4L80E

I would assume the paddle shift feature would be better suited when paired with a built A4 vs factory A4. The reason why I say this is because a lot of people say to not manually downshift an A4.
I really like the idea of this. I miss driving a manual but I also love my A4....

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead since I'm modifying my 93 T/A essentially to 97 spec with it's 4l60e trans, opti, ECM- and all their harnesses. One of several goals for the car is installing a paddle shift- either the TCI 6x system or the Twist.
Looking for feedback- has anyone used either of these or other systems that may be out there? The car is going to be road raced, so durability and reliability and pretty important to me.
