No Manual Shift w/4L60E?

Manually upshifting a 4L60E will make your car slower in the 1/4 mile. It takes 1.5 seconds for the car to make the shift when you do it youself, and less than a second when it can predict the shift.
the 4l60e in stock form will not shift manually....it will hit the revlimiter everytime......if you wanna shift it manually have a transgo shift kit installed.....

wanna act like a 6 speed get a 6 speed. it puts wear and tear on ur transmission faster. its not like IHRA and NHRA drag cars theres arent true automatics and are built very different from the 4L60E leave it in drive and go.
The paddle shifting on my Vette is so completely different than powershifting a 4 speed automatic tranny. Power shifting does hurt the tranny and the components, its not made for doing that unless you build it up and put special kits on them. Believe what you want to believe but I dont think its a good thing.

Is downshifting into reverse from 20mph and putting it to the floor bad? Jk my buddy does that in his 4l80e truck every once in awhile. I have heard different things about manual shifting trannies. I never did in my car but my truck (700r4) sometimes I manual downshift when going down hills to save the brakes there seems to be no effects so far.

I have a Hurst Dual Gate with Compushift controller that I use to manually shift my 4l60e Performabuilt with a Yank. Can't help but roast the tires all the way to 7K.
