Unhappy New tranny looses 3rd and 4th

Just recently got new tranny in my camaro Two weeks before leaving for college. Mild Built 4L60E, not more than 500 miles on it. Was on high way (65mph) and in 4th and every time it down shifted to third it slipped and never would grab. Next i new no 3rd and 4th. just moved to college with a broken car and is my only transportaion. Dont know people yet here and having hard time figuring out what do do.

any help would be much appreciated

It would be best for you to get in contact with your builder. See what options you have with them as far as warranty and obviously what they are willing to do to correct this situation. A loss of 3-4 is normally an internal issue. Are you getting any codes? How does the fluid look and is it full?

I would agree is 3-4 has been working and your neutraling where the shift should be its likley and internal issue with th 3-4 clutch. You should contact the builder for warranty if there was one. Sorry to hear of your miss fortune.

I talked to my builder today and he really did not help me. The tranny fluid does not appear or smell. The magnet in the pan is not all gummed up with 3-4 clutch material. hooked a scanner up to check all of my shift silinoids they all worked as far as i could tell. checked servo seals all where fine.

only thing that my biuder was thinking was previos tranny did not have secong gear, he thought cuz i didnt flush stock converter and stuck a stock one in the new tranny possibly stuff came out of old inverter and debree got in the valve body or something?

Sorry the builder is not willing to be helpfull . Though a valve body issue could cause a no shift to third what you seem to be describing is a neutral or slipping where third gear should be , Its unfortunate but sounds like something has happened to the 3-4 clutch.

So i drove my car the other day and usually i have to drive around in second., but i accidentaly put it in drive and did not know. some how it shifted into third and fourth that day. thinking some thing in the valve body was plugged and kicked it out of the system so it worked fine for now, going to get tranny flushed to try to get it all out. is that possible? it was really wierd
