I just had RPM Transmissions order me a 5 disc 3800 from PI today. They told me that the 3 disc is good for 700 whp. I've got less than that, but for the extra $100 to get the 5 disc, why not? My SS3800 from Yank packed it in. That's the third Yank for this car. Never again.

Typically you only need to worry about multi disc units if you plan on full throttle lockup. Otherwise it only locks under cruise conditions when it is not transmitting a lot of power.

Keep in mind the multi disc units do often rattle a bit at idle.

Depends on the stall speed as far as slippage.

Lockup will not generally help et/mph unless it is a turbo car (which often seem to like the additional load of a locked converter) or unless you are overgeared & need to keep off the rev limiter at the end of the track due to slippage.
