Default A4 tranny or convertor issue..??

This spring, I had my tranny rebuilt at a well known shop. It seems to be "wandering", 300-500 rpcm when I cam cruising down the road. Yesterday, I felt it "shutter" when I stepped on the gas a little. It did seem to go away though.

The shop is a long ways away and I am sure it woud be there for weeks if I dropped it off to be checked.

How do I know or how can I diagnose if it is a tranny or convertor problem?

BTW, I have not raced or beat the car. It was built to do so though..

Thanks in advance for the assist.

Sounds like converter chatter, Do this next time you fel it stay on the throttle steady then verylightly with the other foot just touch the brake and see if it goes away , If it does thats likley what it is.

I have the same problem now in my 98 SS. I do have about 123,000 on the drivetrain. Mine flutters the same 300-500 rpm at a constant speed on the hway for the past few days, but today noticed on the way home the fluttering got worse and more consistant. then at a stop light the rpm's jumped and I had to stay on the brake hard cause the car felt like i was trying to launch it but my foot wasnt on the gas. Anyone have anything like it, it seems I should just buy a new 4l60e and converter.

Well the fluttering may indeed be the trans and or converter, But now the RPM jump and pulling through the brakes is most likley and engine running problem.
