Default Torque converter question.

Got a converter question for you. I have a lead on a cheap used converter with about 50 miles on it. The owner says that he fried the 3rd gear clutch pack and had the trans rebuilt and while he was at it went to a higher stall converter.

My question is: Could the torque converter have been damaged when the trans blew? His tranny guy says the converter should be fine if you flush out the old trans fluid.

if the 3-4 pack was the only failure and the converter is low milage it is probably fine . I would shake it up and strain fluid through a white rag to look for any debris if clean flush and go.

I got my current converter used and have no complaints, however I personally wouldn't use a converter that came out when the tranny went, even if a tranny shop told me it would be fine if I flushed it that is still a chance that I wouldn't take.
