Want to manually shift my 4l60e

Dropping and M6 is requires ony removing the trans stuff from the PCM and several mechnical mods to the trans but when its done you will be slower and while yes a M6 will eliminate the auto trans problems they to have there own issues with the clutch etc , I also watch the manual trans section even though we only presently sell automatics, In the performance world you play you pay its that simple , Auto or stick they break dosent matter what kind of trans you can push beyond it capabilities. When I was younger and the 350s and 400s were the trans it was the same way they break to as do clutches and manuals.
But a manual valve body in and auto is the ultimate control for sure a 4 speed straight drive with torque multiplication and no clutch.

I only do this when on the highway just to get the rpms a little higher and after i hit the gas i toss it up a gear before it hits the limiter. still allows the tranny to shift on its own.

but from what I have heard it isnt benifitial to the health of your car

Doing it that way would not hurt the trans as all your really doing is disallowing the shift basically since the PCM dosent command the shift.

Nobody still said what the amount for this mod would be like. In the neighborhood of how much? $300? 500? I'm also curious why many more people do not do this mod on the transmission, maybe because it's considerably more expensive?

Ok I have a built 4L60E and 1 and 2 are full manual control, what is that called or is that just tuned into the PCM?

I am not sure what year your car is but some years could start in second if placed there if thats the case and you had for instance the HD2 kit installed the efect would be that of a full manual in 1st and 2nd , This is allowed in the tuning for those cars and not the trans itself.

The 4L60E can be a dainty unit, meaning when mods are made with the hydraulics there are other components that need to be taken into consideration if the expectation is that the unit should live for a long time.

In the case of converting one of these units to a fully manual shift configuration it is highly recommended that the unit be fully dissasembled and inspected, updated / upgraded as necessary. The reason is it will most likely be seeing some hard duty in the near future. The HD-3 kit is essentially the same as a -2 kit with the addition of the manual valve train mods.

Sooo, the answer is not that simple you see. If your unit is well built and currently includes a HD-2 kit, it would not be all that time consuming nor expensive to convert it... say $300 - $400. But if it is not well built and does not have a HD-2 kit installed currently, one would be looking at the cost of a performance unit with the manual shft mods... our Fully Manual 4L60E is $1950.00.

When we had mine built, we had it converted to a full man. Now I use an M6 program and the trans connector does not even have to be used. My kit came with a vac mad kit, but I have a larger cam with low intake pressure and a 4400 stall, so I caped the mod line off and run full line pressure with a moded pump, 300m shafts, and about $2500.00 worth of other trans stuff. It shifts good, does not miss, and there is no lag between gears.
