4L60E leaking need help to stop it
It is coming from the passanger side bolt that attaches the tailshaft to the rest of the tranny. Or atleast one of the places. I tightened it as far as i really could laying on my back with my left hand. I dont want to strip the bolt. But i can wipe away the tranny fluid and 30 seconds later it is back. Also when i hit about 4000 RPMs it acts like i hit the rev limiter and then finally continues on its way. Its low on fliud so thats why its slipping but what is causing the leak.

I just looked at the illustrated parts breakdown of the 4L60E and there is what looks to be an O-ring seal between the tailshaft housing and the trans body. GM part# 24208660. You are probably going to have to pull off the tailshaft housing and replace the seal.

Do you think that additive for automatic transmissions that is supposed to stop leaks will work. My dad owns a NAPA store so i am hoping that works tomorrow. If not i will locate the O ring and get go to town on that monday.

for the love of god do not put stop leak additives in your trans. what it does is swells all your seals and down the road you'll be in for a nightmare. take the time and fix it right. any other problems give me email at www.protechtransmissions.com attn:Shawn
