The tranny is broke down, and this is what we found. It has been rebuild before, and guessing that when the frount sprag was put in, the old casing was reused. The sprag cought on an imperfection on the casing, and mangled it, throwing metal everywhere and also pushing the sun gear forward and breaking it. All parts were inspected, and we found some damage to the planet gear, and a couple other parts i will have to replace.

Well hate to hear about the failed parts, but it sounds like you are on your way to having it back as good as ever!

Don't hesitate to pick up the phone and give me a call if you run into trouble going back together with it. I have walked many guys through the same job you are dealing with.

Make sure to test fit the washers that come with the sprag element. They should turn freely with very little drag. I have had to polish them from time to time to accomplish this. It is always best to make sure that you assemble the entire sprag assembly with a little ATF for prelube. Good luck on your build. Vince
