Default Best auto for the street but will hold up to the track?

Looking into converting my M6 SS to an auto and wanted to be sure that I make the right choice before I go blow 2 or 3 grand! I hear that the 200R4 is a good tranny as far as what Im looking for. The car is a daily driver and I would like an auto to compliment that. The car hasnt been to the track since it was stock! I have done so much to it and still havent really had the desire to take it to the track. I dont want to because I dont have the gear, tires, or driveline to do so. The only thing that I have touched as far as driveline goes, is the entire clutch system. But even that isnt going to get my what I want. Anyhow, Id like to get an auto. that will hold up at the track but is still streetable. Im pretty sure that I want it to have overdrive if I want it to be streetable, right? Dont really have a budget, but Id like to know what my options are. Thanks

I just went to a 400T, so I could start worrying about something else. You wont likely have problems with the 400. It will handle anything you can throw at it. If you miss the OD, then get a GV overdrive, and you are set. Good luck.

There's no way you'll need a th400 for the kind of power you are putting out, plus they are heavy and have lots of drivetrain loss, add a GVOD unit to it you're looking at additional 100 lbs 2,400 bucks. 200-4R would be your best bet, even better would be a built 4L60E. 200-4R's are awesome but can shift a little firm on the street, I'm going with a 200-4R but I'm putting almost 500 rwhp out and want the transbrake for the hard launches.

Are you looking for manual shift or a true automatic? You can get a 4L60e that will hold up to H&C car if you want a true automatic.

I think I may need a new tranny. Would a built 4L60E handle 500+RWHP???
