Default help me choose a converter

Ok I have been looking into a gear swap but everyone is telling me a converter is the way to go. Here is my car

2001 Trans Am 320 HP 340 TQ
2.73 gear
FIPK }car ran 13.4@104.6 with
Hooker Catback }these two mods if that matters

Diablo Predator
160* T-Stat
and I am on a budget so keep that in mind

I was told a midwest 3000 with a STR of 2.5 would be good for my car this converter is less tha 500 and I would like to stay in that range

also, do I need a shift kit with the predator?
I know I will need a tranny cooler is there anything else?

Yes, you should get a 19k GVW b&m supercooler or equivalent.

TCS makes a good converter, probably better than a midwest but it would be a little more expensive. 3000 - 3300 stall with a 2.5 STR would be a good choice on the street. With nittos, you could use a 3200/3300 stall with a 3.0 STR and have an awesome launch and good street manners.
