I have been talkig to this gentleman on another forum , He presently has 700 rwhp In a GTO and is planning 1000 in the near future, I suggested a 4L80E as his best choice. And still do.

At a 1000rwhp the 80 is the only way to go. I have quite a few guy's running deep in the 700rwhp range and one that is really testing the scales in the 800's. I would like to know how passes was he getting on these other units and what failures were taking place? I'm sure the national record he is after includes using the 4l60e. Vince

I dont know if that s a requirment for the record as he hasnt mentioned it. from what I gathered he made a couple passes with the first one and it failed in the 3-4 clutch. Then the place he got it from formentioned had it brought back and repaired it and presently it is doing fine. But hes looking for something thats long term reliable at 1000+ rwhp and I concur that the 4l80e is the only way to go. A 4l60/65E built by anyone would be hard pressed to be a long term reliable uint though I did tell him we would build one and stand behind it if he chose to go that route.
