A4's: Do you use
Maybe the reason the converter seems to lock up harder in D is because it's actually locking up in D rather than shifting to OD and then locking up. It would feel harder with a 1:1 gear than a .7:1.

That probably is the reason for the harder/stronger feeling lockup...
Was just going to mention that OD 4th gear is .7 and D 4th gear is 1 so with the better gear ratio when in D wouldnt you go faster. Maybe it revs higher because it is spinning faster in D. More reps than in OD.

You're confused. It doesn't matter if the selector is in D or OD as to what the ratio will be when the tranny is in a given gear. What I mean is, say you have it in OD and you start off from a stop...you're in 1st gear which has a ratio of 3.06:1. If you start off in D it is the same thing...1st gear is 3.06:1. Same goes for when the tranny shifts into second...the ratio is 1.62:1 regardless to if the selector is in 2nd, D, or OD. Likewise, 3rd is always 1:1 regardless of where the shifter is.
