Default 4l80e trans lines

Going to be installing the 4l80e sometime soon and would like to know if it would be fine to screw barb fittings in the side of the trans and attach rubber hose and run it to my coolers? I know I could use braided line but I think the rubber trans line may be alittle cheaper and if it works im happy. Btw does anyone know the thread size for the cooler lines on the 4l80e case?

I really would not suggest using a barbed fitting. You could actually use your factory lines. It is just wrong in my opinion to do this. There is a kit to use your factory lines or I would run braided lines with the proper AN fittings. On another note the tunnel is on the tight side and depending on how long the fittings are, you might have clearance issues. I have heard of some guy's having to massage the tunnel a bit just to get the trans in. Keep that in mind. Vince

What kit could I get to reuse my factory lines my 4l80e is a 1994 model with the cooler connections towards the front of the case. I currently have some rubber hose running to my trans coolers and it doesnt seem to have a problem. Are the factory lines the same size as the 4l80e size?

Well in your case you should just install the factory OEM fittings that came off of your 4L60e. You might have to tweak the lines a bit to get them in place and make them look pretty. But the location is pretty close and should work. The kit I was talking about would be for the 97 and later units. Sorry I was unaware of which case you are using. If you needs some new fittings in order to use your factory lines, let me know. Vince

sounds like the stock lines should work! just be carefull bending the lines and be sure to not kink them and get a hairline split.
